The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) recently sent out a five-year certification reminder to those who have a DEP Stormwater or Site Law permit issued on or after 2006.
This may affect more than just those who currently have these permits. If you are planning to purchase a property with existing development, you should find out if the property already has a DEP Stormwater or Site Law permit, and make sure the seller maintained and recertified the stormwater management system per the permit conditions. A permit transfer is required, and you—as the new owner—will have to assume the inspection and maintenance requirements.
